NIU Enterprise Directory E-Mail Notification System

eDirectory Identity Manager E-Mail Notification System

Whenever an Identity Management Transaction takes place in the eDirectory system an e-mail notification is sent to the corresponding department's notification distribution list.  The department's distribution list has been initially populated with the Departmental Authorizers and LAN Administrators on file with ESS Computer Access.

Notifications will be attached to a message from "IDManagement" and will be sent to your GroupWise account. The system message attached is composed in HTML format. See Example Notification Message.

Be aware that semester start activities could generate a substantial number of notifications in some departments depending on hiring activity.

Changes to the eDirectory Identity Manager E-Mail Notification List

A Departmental Authorizer or LAN Administrator may request changes to these distribution lists by sending an e-mail to helpdesk@niu.edu with the following information:

  • Departmental Code (XX00000)
  • AccountID to be changed
  • Requested change (Add or Remove)

Please note: You may appear on multiple distribution lists. A separate distribution list is available for each active department code regardless of the uniqueness of the groups. Adding or removing an individual does NOT change their status as a Departmental Authorizer or LAN Administrator.
