Administrative CLAS Telephones

CLAS sets are unique single line phones that feature an adjustable display, a visual message waiting indicator, handsfree & mute capability, a hold, redial and release/goodbye key, programmable memory keys and a variety of telephone set options like the convenient Callers & Directory list.  You should refer to the instructions for using single line sets to activate most features.

Some CLAS telephones have an "OPTIONS" button.  For other CLAS telephones, please refer to the guide that came with the phone or call NIUTEL at 753-0963.  There are eight options available which allow you to customize your telephone set.  These options can be changed using the OPTIONS key.

To change any of the eight options:

  • Leave handset on hook
  • Press the Options key
  • Move through the list of options by pressing the up or down arrow key or press the desired option number on the dial pad
  • To make a change, follow the instructions on the display

Options List:

  • Language - you have a choice of display messages in one of two languages.
  • Time/Date - once you have set the time and date manually, you must reset it after a power failure, for Daylight Savings time, and for leap years.
  • Ring Tone - the ring tone can be changed as well as the volume setting.
  • Call Timer - by setting the call timer the length of each call made or received will be displayed.
