Although Internet access through NIU is free, toll rates may apply for access. If dialing to NIU results in toll charges for a regular phone call, then such toll rates will also apply to dialing into NIU for Internet access. If NIU is a long-distance call for you, you may wish to consider purchasing Internet access service from a provider in your immediate area.
Click on Start, then Control Panel.

Click “Network and Internet Connections.”

Click “Network Connections.”

Click “Create a new connection” in the upper left.

Read the Welcome screen and click “Next.”
Select “Connect to the Internet.”

Select “Set up my connection manually.”

Select “Connect using a dial-up modem.”

Enter “NIU” for the ISP Name.
Enter “815-753-6600” for the phone number.

Your user name is your AccountID/Z-ID. If you don’t know your AccountID/Z-ID is, call 815-753-8100. Enter your password only if you wish to have Dial-Up Networking remember your password. Check the first and second boxes to make this the default Internet connection of all users of you computer. Check the box to turn on Internet Connection Firewall.
Check the box to have an icon to your connection automatically placed on your desktop. Click “Finish” and you’re done!
