Please note that this *only* applies to prior GW clients installed via Zen, *not* GW clients that were installed manually. In the above case where Zen was used to install the prior/current version of the GW client, not upgrading via Zen will most likely result in an error (Error 1714 - The older version of GroupWise cannot be removed) when attempting to upgrade the GroupWise client. The only way ITS has found to complete the upgrade to GW 7.0.2hp client after this is to use Zen once again to perform the GW client upgrade.
Lan Administrators who need to have the Zen association process setup for pushing out their GroupWise 7.0.2hp clients, need to make sure the following work has been performed prior to the request:
The information we need to make the association is:
The formal request should be made to the ITS Helpdesk via email, verifying that all of the above items have been fully addressed. A *three business day* lead should be given for all Zen association requests.
ITS recommends running the Setup IP file installation again, as this usually works to resolve the unsuccessful original attempt. In this case, the unsuccessful original attempt via this method is usually caused by a *network interruption* and thus running this process again has shown to resolve the vast majority of these issues. If running the Setup IP file installation won't complete after several attempts, ITS recommends using the CD ISO Image link on the above web page, which can also be burned to a CD for manually upgrading multiple workstations. The CD ISO Image contains full versions of all the current, valid GW clients ITS offers: Windows, Mac, and Linux.
ITS recommends that you first uninstall the CallPilot Desktop client via Add/Remove programs, then upgrade to GW 7.0.2hp client, and finally install the newest CallPilot Desktop client found at http://mycallpilot.niu.edu > Login > CallPilot Features > Downloads. *If you find that the CallPilot Desktop integration to GW still doesn't function after performing the above steps, you will need to perform the following steps in this rare instance:
The D107 errors are a very well known issue with the GW 7.0.2hp client and Novell has promised to fix this in the next release of their GW client. There is no fix for this currently - whether in patch form or client version. However, the D107 errors don't substantially impact the overall functionality of the GW 7.0.2hp client.
