Change your Password to a Permanent Password

1. Your initial password allows 3 grace login sessions using  your date of birth in the form of YYYYMMDD.  For example, if your birthday is March 2, 1986, your initial password is 19860302.
2. Go to password.niu.edu and click on "Change Your Password."
3. Enter your Z-ID in the AccountID field and click Next
4. Click on your Z-ID.
5. Set up your verification questions
   1. Enter your inital password in Current Password field
   2. For the first verification question, choose a question from the drop down menu and answer it
   3. For the second question, make up your own question and answer it
   4. Click Save
   5. Click Continue
6. You will now be back at the beginning menu. Click on Change Password again
7. Enter your Z-ID in the AccountID field and click Next
8. This is a status screen. Click on your Z-ID.
9. Enter your initial password in "Old Password." Enter a new 8-character password consisting of both numbers and lower-case letters in "New Password" and "Verify Password." 
   This password expires every 130 days - reset it at password.niu.edu
