To change the password that goes with your AccountID / Z-ID To , go to password.niu.edu.
NIU passwords are used by faculty, staff and students to access Blackboard, Novell servers and drives (for example, the H: drive), computer labs, WebCRMA, student MVS access, dialing in to NIU's Internet service from off campus, FTP access to Novell user volumes, and student e-mail (not Groupwise e-mail). This password expires every 130 days.

Groupwise is the e-mail service provided for faculty and staff. Groupwise passwords do not expire. Your initial password is your birthdate in YYYYMMDD format.
ITS retains some MVS programming, statistical, and utility software on our IBM mainframe for programming and data analysis purposes. Most programmers who make use of MVS access it via the Superwylbur or CICS interface or via ftp to submit batch programs. Faculty and staff can apply for a MVS password through the Computer Access Request form. Faculty MVS passwords expire every 45 or 90 days, depending on the application. Computer Science students using MVS can get access through that department. Students using MVS use their NIU password, which expires every 130 days. The Touchtone Telephone Registration, Add/Drop, Class Schedule system (T.R.A.C.S.) includes a Web-based component, WebCONNECT. Detailed information regarding the operation of the TRACS system is included in the current Schedule of Classes, available from the Office of Registration and Records. To log in to TRACS you need your student number and PIN (personal identification number). Go to WebCONNECT to log in to TRACS. In WebCONNECT, a student can print his or her schedule from the screen.
Unix access is assigned to students as needed. For faculty and staff using Corn, this password does not expire. See your local lan-admin for details on access to departmental Unix servers. To change your Unix password, see Changing Your Unix Password.
